Announce the public release of 3.0.1 update

BEdita 3.0.1 update publicly available

ChannelWeb Srl and Chia Lab Srl today announce the public general availability of the very first update of BEdita 3, code name “betula” (*), to version 3.0.1.

This update is recommended for all BEdita users, since it contains some new features and a number of bug fixes: look at the changelog for a complete listing of changes.

BEdita 3 (www.bedita.com) – the development framework for web applications with a full featured CMS out of the box – is released under the open-source license Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPL3).

To install or update to the latest version, please visit the official web site or one of the project pages reported below.

Notes about Bedita 3.

The project was started and is currently developed by ChannelWeb srl (www.channelweb.it) and Chia lab srl (www.chialab.it), two Italian companies based in Bologna.

BEdita 3 is the ideal platform for Web 2.0, since it supports all typical paradigms of the second generation of web development & design: de-centralization and interoperability, user-centered design, crowd-sourcing, dynamic contents, Software as a Service (SAAS), Rich Internet Application e Rich User Experience. Furthermore it may be used as an advanced Web Marketing tool as well. And finally, thanks to the scalable architecture and the object oriented design, BEdita is ready to evolve and follow technologies towards new schemes and scenarios, like the ones often described as “Semantic” or “Ontological” Web.

The backend User Interface has been developed in accordance with well-established rules in usability and ergonomics, but – as much important – it is also practical and enjoyable.

BEdita 3 release, a Semantic Content Management Framework

ChannelWeb Srl and Chia Lab Srl today announce the general availability of BEdita 3, code name “betula” (*).

BEdita (www.bedita.com) is both a development framework for web applications and a full featured Content Management System, released under the open-source license Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPL3).

The project was started and is currently developed by ChannelWeb srl (www.channelweb.it) and Chia lab srl (www.chialab.it), two Italian companies based in Bologna.

BEdita 3 is completely brand new: its release follows two years of hard work and research so, as regards version 3, the whole system has been re-written from the ground up. The design of BEdita 3 complies with latest trends in software engineering and is completely respectful of web standards: BEdita 3 is a solid software environment, fully compatible with latest versions of programming languages and mark-ups in use. The backend User Interface has been developed in accordance with well-established rules in usability and ergonomics, but – as much important – it is also practical and enjoyable.

Opening of the official public forum

The official public forum is now available at the web address forum.bedita.com.

By now the forum contains two main sections:

"Developers" is dedicated to all developers using BEdita as a development framework for their projects, but also to system and network administrators installing, configuring or managing the software;
"Users" is dedicated to all BEdita users, i.e. all the people using BEdita as a content management system: subeditors, webmasters, forum moderators, bloggers and so on.

Ther is also an introducing post by Christiano Presutti: BEdita? «Readmefirst».

BEdita project presented at the third Free Software Italian Conference

Today Stefano Rosanelli gave a presentation of BEdita at CONFSL09, the third Italian Free Software Conference, here in Bologna. We submitted a paper on our project that has been accepted and published in the official conference publication (Italian only version).
